CARL GARRISON | Minister, Community of Hope
About Us
Carl is originally from Louisville KY, arriving in NYC after studying psychology & theater at Murray State University in 1989. While pursuing a career as an actor Carl has performed in many off Broadway plays, comedy clubs, corporate tours, commercials, independent films, jazz & night clubs in Manhattan, Boston, Rhode Island, Baltimore, Fox woods and Atlantic city. Carl has a production company M.A.G. SWING, which produces features and documentary films as well as corporate & medical industrials.
After growing up in Church, Carl accepted the call to serve in full time ministry at the Manhattan Church of Christ. Carl is the Community of Hope Minister of Homeless Outreach, a ministry that serves the poor and marginalized in our communities. Carl feels that the poor and marginalized should be vigorously pursued by houses of faith and should be afforded the best of resources spiritual and otherwise.
Carl is also the Men's Ministry leader,in which he serves to help men grow and mature in faith by arranging retreats, classes, service projects. Carl is also one of the education ministers in which he serves by structuring & arranging the adult Bible classes.
In 1997 Carl met the love of his life Christine Traci Buckner while performing in a cable show & again while on tour with Bess & A Raisin in the Sun, the two were married in 2001 with a Jazz wedding feature a trio & a tap dance line of tappers. Christine & Carl have two beautiful children Joshua Carl Garrison who is 7 & River Jordan Garrison who is 2.
Carl was one of the recipients of the Martin Luther King Jr and Rabbi Herschel award for community service in 2012.
